Employment of HKIC Graduates

HKIC provides job referral services to all graduates who have successfully completed the Full-time One-year, Two-year and Adult Short Courses. During the initial period of employment, the Career Support Services of HKIC will continue to offer after-placement services to graduates for their adaptation to the construction industry.

  • Certificate in Construction Programme

    Students will complete the programme in mid-August every year. In order to well-equipped them for the construction industry, they are actively undergoing a comprehensive and systematic training.
    Students should be educated in secondary 3 or above before enrolling to the Programme. They will be possessed with workmanship and basic theories as well as safety knowledge that are related to construction industry at the time of graduation. Students will conduct a 25-day “Site Practices” in order to learn the skills and genuine operation of construction site.

    Special Qualifications = All students must obtain the relevant qualifications before graduation.

    Graduates are required to work in construction site for 1.5 to 3 years in order to gain work experience. Graduates of Plumbing, Plant Maintenance and Repairs, and Electrical Installation are required to take the 1 or 2 years relevant theoretical courses simultaneously at Vocational Training Council (VTC).

    According to the Construction Sites (Safety) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulation 1994, CIC (previous “CICTA”), graduates under 18 years of age are eligible to work at construction site.

  • Diploma in Construction Programme

    Students will complete the programme in mid-August every year. In order to well-equipped them for the construction industry, they are actively undergoing a comprehensive and systematic training.
    Students should be educated in Secondary 6 or above before enrolling to the Programme. They will be possessed with workmanship and basic theories as well as safety knowledge that are related to construction industry at the time of graduation. Meanwhile, students will take a 2-year foundation diploma course at Vocational Training Council (VTC) so as to nurture the students to be a knowledge-based tradesman. Students will also conduct a 10-day “Site Practices” in order to learn the skills and genuine operation of construction site.

    In addition to obtaining the relevant Intermediate Trade Tests for building construction trades, students will also acquire the Intermediate Trade Test for Leveller and Construction Safety Supervisor Certificate before graduation.

  • Advanced Diploma Programme

    Students will complete the Programme in mid-February every year. In order to well-equipped them for the construction industry, they are actively undergoing a comprehensive and systematic training.

    Students should be educated in Secondary 6 or above before enrolling to the Programme. They will be possessed with workmanship and basic theories as well as safety knowledge that are related to construction industry at the time of graduation. Students will conduct a 50-day “On-Site Practices” in order to learn the skills and genuine operation of construction site.

    All students will acquire with Green Card and Construction Safety Supervisor Certificate, as well as a recognized First Aid Certificate.

    Graduates are required to have site practices for 2 to 3 years in order to gain practical work experience and they are required to continue to study the relevant Vocational Training Council (VTC) certificates, diploma or advanced diploma.

  • Enhanced Construction Supervisor / Technician Programme

    Students of ECSTS should be educated in Secondary 5 (old academic systems “HKCEE”) or Secondary 6 (new academic systems “HKDSE”) or above before enrolling to the Programme. After the completion of a 9-month in-house training, they will be possessed with workmanship and basic theories as well as safety knowledge that are related to construction industry at the time of graduation.

    Please follow our simple procedure for recruiting HKIC graduates:
    Please complete the "Registration Form for Employing Graduates" (Form 1, 2, or 3) and fax it to 2100 9290. The HKIC will respond within 1 working day on the availability of suitable graduates. We will arrange an interview within 5 days and follow up by phone within 5 days after the interview. The HKIC will follow up with the graduates regularly by phone after they are hired. We understand each company will shortlist candidates for consideration. We are happy to arrange other graduates in the future.
