The WorldSkills Competition will take place in Lyon, France in two months. Meet our competitor in Painting and Decorating, WU Yunfan (Fan) who graduated with a Diploma in Construction (Painting & Decoration) from the Hong Kong Institute of Construction. Fan won the Championship in the 2nd Hong Kong Construction Skills Competition, earning the qualification to compete as a finalist in Painting and Decorating after the assessment.

Fan discovers painting and decorating is an interesting trade where individuals create artwork to express their ideas with aesthetic sense and creativity, patience and attention to detail are important to produce delicate and perfect work.

During the training in Huangshan, Fan was impressed by the excellent skills of China’s team. To keep up with the training schedule, he practised until night every day to delve into the painting and decorating skills for perfection. He also participated in the exchange competition in Huangshan and realised that emotions could hinder his performance. He is striving to work on these weaknesses in the coming training.

Fan is currently undergoing intensive training in Guangzhou. Through the training, he aspires to improve his concentration and patience, as well as to excel and keep practising, showcasing his strengths to win the gold medal in the WorldSkills Competition! Let’s support him together!
