Our programmes

As the leader in safety training in the industry, HKIC offers courses which uphold the mottos of the Construction Industry Council: “Life First, Say No To Danger” and “Everyone is accountable to construction site safety”. Various courses of HKIC have included coverage of the Smart Site Safety System in recent years. The mode of instruction has been renewed by introducing in-class teaching at the Safety Experience Training Centre. HKIC has introduced virtual reality (VR) technology to enhance teaching efficiency. The real-time VR platform allows students to experience the best operation at a simulated worksite in an indoor environment. The immersive teaching will reduce the industrial accidents by reinforcing students’ familiarity with safety training and increasing their awareness for professional safety on construction sites.

Labour Department's Approved Confined Spaces Courses Restructuring

From 30 November 2024, applicants for the confined space safety training courses (CSW, CWZ, CCR, CYP, CPP) are required to attend the newly revised courses. This also applies to existing applicants who submitted applications earlier than the effective date.

According to the latest guidelines of the Labour Department*[1], the Hong Kong Institute of Construction is currently making corresponding adjustments to the course duration, written and practical examinations (recorded), validity period of certificates, and course content of the Confined Space Courses. Details will be announced in due course.

*Remarks:

[1] The Labour Department’s Revised Code of Practice for Safety and Health at Work in Confined Spaces (the “CoP”) will come into effect on 30 November 2024. It provides practical guidance and technical information for proprietors or contractors, competent persons and approved workers working in confined spaces to enhance the safety and health of workers working in confined spaces.

Digitalization of Safety Training Courses Application

For Your Attention Please:

The Hong Kong Institute of Construction is promoting course application digitalization. Safety course application forms will NOT be offered from Nov 30, 2024 onwards. From Dec 31, 2024, applications submitted other than the online application system (OPAS), e.g. by email, fax and post (by the Post Office stamp date) will NOT be accepted. From Jan 1, 2025, the Safety Training Centre only accepts online applications.

How to Apply

Applicants can bring along identity documents and visit Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) Kwai Chung Campus or Construction Industry Council (CIC) Service Centre during office hours to enroll safety training course. Applicants can also download application form from this safety training course webpage and settle the course fee by Jetco Payment. The completed form with Jetco Payment receipt copy or the payment proof shall be returned via the following means:

By post to Construction Industry Council, 38/F, COS Centre, 56 Tsun Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong;
By hand in person to HKIC Kwai Chung Campus or CIC Service Centre;
By email to KCCSafety@hkic.edu.hk

Notice of Application

In normal circumstances, HKIC -Safety Training Center will notify applicant within 7 working days upon receiving the application. HKIC will notify the class schedule to applicant by SMS. Please pay attention to mobile SMS. If applicant has not received the class schedule two months after submitting the application, please call for enquiry.

Applicants can also download application form from this safety training course webpage and return the completed form with the payment proof via the following means:

By post to Construction Industry Council, 38/F, COS Centre, 56 Tsun Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon, Hong Kong;
By hand in person to HKIC Kwai Chung Campus or CIC Service Centre;

Notes: No need to settle the course fee when submitting the application for certificate course. Payment notice will be sent to the applicant individually after the class is arranged.

Notice of Application

In normal circumstances, HKIC-Safety Training Center will notify the estimated waiting time to applicant by email within 7 working days upon receiving the application. If applicant has not received the email two months after submitting the application, please call for enquiry.

Note: The estimated waiting time for class is for reference only and is subject to change according to the course schedule.
