Construction Industry and Safety Practices Certificate (Course Code: FSOZ): With the continuous improvement of safety awareness in the construction industry, there is an increasing demand for registered safety officers. This part-time program provides a pathway for students to become construction safety officers through the "First-hire-then-train" model.

During the employment, students will receive theoretical and language training which period is 5 months (About 175 hours) and be able to progress to the "Construction Safety Officer" course.

Upon completion of both "Certificate in Construction and Safety Practice" and "Construction Safety Officer" courses, students will be recognized as academically qualified for registration as Safety Officers. Furthermore, graduates who remain engaged in related field will be awarded a one-time bonus of HKD 20,000.

The course is designed with 6 modules, including two English units.

2. Basic system for Construction Safety
3. English & Communication: Reading Technical and Business Documents
4. Construction technology
5. Basic Technology for Civil Engineering
6. English & Communication: Workplace writing

Eligibility Requirements for Employer

• Main Contractor in Hong Kong ; or
• Registered companies under the Registered Specialist Trade Contractors Scheme or the Sub-contractors Registration Scheme ; or
• Owners of refurbishment, repair and maintenance projects or new projects (Owner refers to the property holder, developer or administrator)

Eligibility Requirements for Student

• DSE (Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination) Level 2 results in Chinese and English, or equivalent qualifications* ; and
• Able to speak Cantonese ; and
• Recommended by employer

*Applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirements with not less than 2 years of construction work experience must pass the entrance written test in Chinese and English to be eligible for admission.

How to Apply
