The "New Engineering Contract" (the NEC) is being promoted by the Hong Kong Government. The Course aims to familiarise the students on the NEC practice framework effectively on top of the students' knowledge and experience in running GCCs. Alongside with lecturing, interactive discussions will be conducted on the likely areas under NEC where construction disputes may arise, the potential issues, the parties’ considerations and interests in this new contract form, and how disputes can be best resolved under NEC provisions for adjudication. To complement, the general principles and mechanisms of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) such as construction specialised arbitration, mediation, adjudication and the use of expert witness will be introduced.
