Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) has been providing quality construction training in Hong Kong for over 45 years.
The CIC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Guangdong City Technician College on 12 December 2024 to establish a partnership to provide training and exchange opportunities for the competitors in Painting and Decorating of the WorldSkills Competition.
Dr. Morgan YANG, Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC), signed the MoU on behalf of the CIC. He mentioned that HKIC strongly prioritises Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and the implementation of “Competition-based Teaching” approach, to enhance skill levels through competition. Dr. YANG believed the partnership with the College would facilitate cross-regional exchange between Hong Kong and Guangzhou, equipping competitors with the skills needed to excel in the WorldSkills Competition and achieve the best results through cooperation and support.
Representatives from the CIC also visited the Painting and Decorating training base at the Guangdong City Technician College to learn the outstanding skills of the China WorldSkills Team. They also toured the Academy of Digital Information Technology and BIM workshop to explore the local intelligent construction technologies, aiming to incorporate the technologies into the curriculum of HKIC in the future.
