Advanced Diploma (For DSE students)
Advanced Diploma Programme is designed for secondary 6 school leavers with certain level of academic attainment who wish to pursue a technician or supervisory career in the construction industry.
The courses, which include 18-month training and 6-month on-the-job training, are designed to meet the needs of the industry. The programme has 4 individual disciplines. In addition, the programme offers common modules and whole person development training, including voluntary service (30 hours) and sport training (60 hours) to develop the selfawareness, analytical thinking, problem solving skills of the students.
During the training period, students will receive a comprehensive and specialised technical training on proper work skills and professional site supervision techniques, so as to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills for construction supervision.
HKIC will arrange students to take the Higher Diploma programme on a part-time mode at the Vocational Training Council (VTC)(Note 1).
Note 1: Admission to VTC courses will subject to VTC's arrangement. Some lessons will be held at evenings.
Schedule and Venue
Monday to Friday : 8:20am to 4:20pm
Saturday : 8:20am to 12:30pm
Main teaching venue: HKIC - Kowloon Bay Campus
During the training period, students may be arranged to attend classes in different campuses.
Further Studies and Careers
Upon completion of the programme, apart from continuing the part-time High Diploma of VTC, graduates can join Technician Apprenticeship Training offered by the Office of the Director of Apprenticeship to become construction project supervisor or professionals.
Upon completion of the programme and met the requirements of graduation, a graduate certificate issued by HKIC, Mandatory Basic Safety Training Certificate (Construction Work) (Green card), Confined Space Worker Certificate and Certificate of Building Information Modelling (Bim) Basic Modelling Course - Revit will be awarded. A certificate issued by VTC would be awarded when students completed the programme from VTC.
Upon completion of the first 18 months of the programme, students can exempt from a maximum of 12 months of training period in the Technician Apprenticeship Scheme under The Office of the Director of Apprenticeship.
Contractors Sponsorship Scheme
HKIC cooperates with renowned contractors under this scheme. Students can receive an additional training allowance with the sponsorship amount not less than HK$12,000 per year from the contractors for the on-the-job training. Preference for permanent positions will be given to the students who have satisfactory preference when working with the respective contractors.
