The Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC) has recently organised sharing talks, taster workshops and experience competition for various secondary schools to increase understanding of the WorldSkills Competition among local students. The instructors from HKIC were invited to teach the skills of the trades, as well as the former WorldSkills competitors to share their competition experiences and provide guidance to the students.

Mr. George AU, Principal of Kwai Chung Campus of HKIC, visited two secondary schools and reminded students to always prioritise safety when experiencing the skills. Activities of Bricklaying, Painting and Decorating, Plumbing and Heating as well as Wall and Floor Tiling were arranged for students who have paid close attention to the instructors' guidance and asked questions when they were in doubt, striving to do the best during their turn. They had a great time and showed strong team spirit to complete the tasks in a short period of time.

The activities not only allowed students to be familiar with the WorldSkills Competition, but also learned more about the programmes offered by HKIC, helping them in future planning. Students also found the activities interesting and hoped to participate again in the future.
